The KCBS Team of the Year race is red-hot and no BBQ source covers it as well as the Tailgate Guys BBQ Show. Teams are crisscrossing time zones and cooking in remnants of hurricanes to chase the crown. On Episode 87, we visit with Joe Pearce of Slaps BBQ, the current points lead after a rainy weekend in Mississippi.
Joe tells us about his double Grand Championship the first weekend of October in Casper, Wyoming, how Brad Leighninger of 2018 KCBS Team of the Year Gettin’ Basted pushes him and fellow contender Chris Schafer of Heavy Smoke to be better and what winning Team of the Year would mean. The finish line is within sight and it’ll fun to watch how things play out.
We also talk steak cooking with one of the best in the business, John Lindsey of All Q’ued Up BBQ team out of Jonesboro, Arkansas and the Arkassippi Live Show that airs each Monday night on Facebook. John gives us a rundown of the Steak Cookoff Association points race and offers some steak-cooking tips that you normally would have to pay good money for.
