Tailgate Guys BBQ Podcast

Apr 27, 2021

One of competition BBQ’s majors is only a couple of weeks away and on Episode 111 of the Tailgate Guys BBQ Show Podcast, we talk it over with the great Heath Riles about his preparation for Memphis in May. Heath also tells us about his booming product business, on layering rubs vs. mixing them and a tip or two on how competition cooks might take the next step from good to great.

We go “Under the Radar” with Chase Willard from KCBS team Willard Wick BBQ out of Independence, Mo. Chase, who’s only been competing since 2019, reviews a great cook at last weekend’s Ozarks BBQ Festival following a stretch of adversity that included a house fire a week before the comp. He also talks about his former competitive passion of bull-riding.

As for the co-hosts, Lyndal reviews Team Tailgate Guys cook at Ozarks BBQ Fest and Steve is loving going back to the charcoal-cooking basics with his new Weber Kettle 22.
