Two American Royal World Series of BBQ champions, 12 years apart, join us for Episode 66 of the Tailgate Guys BBQ Show Podcast. From south Texas, reigning American Royal Open champ Fred Robles of Rio Valley Meats tells us about how he’s dealing with the lack of competition cooking. Also, as a butcher and owner of Rio Valley Meats, Fred gives us perspective on the meat shortages and price spices that the country is dealing with.
On the second half of the program, 2007 American Royal Open champ Eric Burkhart - better known to his friends as Uncle Bub - recaps his win over 98 others in a huge sauce competition last weekend. The guys from Pit Hustle BBQ in southeast Missouri put it together and Eric’s “Hillbilly Hog Shine” sauce beat the others in a March Madness bracketed format.
Meanwhile, Lyndal and Steve preview their Memorial Day cooking plans and talk a little BBQ trivia, along with touching on news and notes from the BBQ and sports world.
